| Wired network solutions This is best done when you are building the office so the cables can be run through the walls or ceiling as you do with power cables.. The simplest wired network is to simply link 2 PCs with a crossover cable. If you only have 2 computers , say a desktop and a laptop, this simple solution allows you to share resources like data, printers, drives, or the Internet access. Anything above 2 computers will generally require a switch or router to enable effective communications between them all. If your Internet connection is to be shared then a router is the best way. To connect by cable a 4 port router is perfect for a small network. To use wireless then a 4 port router with wireless capability is the way to go. Anything greater than this would require some sort of switch to connect systems to the server and other shared resources, like an office multifunction unit. Generally speaking there are significant advantages in a business when using a wired network over wireless one. Wireless networking solutions All business wireless networks require a router to be transmitting a signal which is then available to any computer that has a receiver and is authorised for access. Most laptops now have this inbuilt and many new PCs have wireless capability. It is very easy to add this capability to any PC that does not yet have wireless. www.oliverrural.com |
