advice on hosting your own website, whether you load it ot your own isp server or elsewhere it must be easy to manage.
If you are going to manage the site yourself you need to look at a few basic
things first.
You
must have an internet connection that is fast and with minimal
limits to upload and download. This connection does not need to have
a set ip address as you are not hosting.
Your web host needs to
be able to clearly indicate to you what they can or can't do for you so
you understand the limits of your potential site. For instance not all
web hosting providers are able to have a shopping cart, or support a
database. If you need these then you need to find someone that can do
it for you.
Often your own ISP will do you a special deal to host
your website if you package your requirements with them. If they can do
what you need this may be the simplest way to go.
However if you just want to run a blog, or basic site, there are many places where you can place your site for free.
Hosting your own Intranet
- an
Intranet is usually hosted on site within the physical network
structure, ie within the same building or business location. This may
vary for a company that needs to have remote acces to Intranet
resources by staff in off site locations. This makes sharing data ansd
resources especially simple, as long as the site is kept up to date.
