| Wired network solutions This may or may not require a server depending on the network size and its intended function. The simplest wired network is to simply link 2 PCs with a crossover cable. Anything above 2 computers will generally require a switch or router to enable effective communications between them all. Wireless networking solutions All wireless networks require a router to be transmitting a signal which is then available to any computer that has a receiver.
