 Vista (Microsoft Windows Vista)

This operating system from Microsoft is version 6 of the Windows platforms and has several versions, with each having some updates. The latest version of Vista includes service pack 1. Vista Service Pack 1 is easy to acquire by downloading from Microsoft, or from any competent technician. Service Pack 1 is available for download but usually done as part of the Vista auto updates procedure. It is best to install these as they do contain important security updates. There are also a heap of other updates that are improvements and additions as the operating system evolves. the simplest way to install these is to leave the automatic updates on on the computer and it will let you know when you need to restart following an update.

Vista requires some pretty powerful hardware to run it fully so make sure you do not skimp on the hardware at initial purchase. You should have as a minimum a 1GHz processor, 60GB hard drive,  more than 1GB of RAM Memory, and a graphics card with at least 128MB onboard RAM. Basically you can run Vista on a computer with lower specs than this but you will be very disappointed with its performance (especially speed). I recommend doubling all those numbers to enable Vista to full properly..

Microsoft Windows Vista has become an operating system for millions of PC users who either love it or hate it.. It was a vast improvement on its predecessors in Windows 3.11, Windows 98,  Windows 2000, and Windows XP. Having said that there are still plenty of excellent systems around still running these older versions of operating systems that are doing extremely well. What Vista has to offer in user friendly functions and ease of use is simply phenomenal and requires a lot of learning to be able to take advantage of many of its features.

Turn off some of Vistas features and you will get an instant power boost to your system. Some of the things you can research turning off include; turning off Aero, reducing the visual effects, streamline the registry, optimise the hard drive, update device drivers, minimal software installations, and some services.
